City of De Leon Press Release

[De Leon, Texas] – On June 26, 2017, Ben Rowell resigned from the position of Chief of the De Leon Police Department, effective immediately.  Rowell had been employed with the City since January of 2007, and had served as the Chief of Police since April 2010.  Rowell has served the City of De Leon well over the years, and we are sorry to see him go.  On behalf of City staff and the City Council, I express our gratitude for Rowell’s service to the City of De Leon and our best wishes to him in his future endeavors.

 

On June 27, 2017, the City Council appointed James Ed Dyson as the Interim Chief of the De Leon Police Department.  Dyson has been a peace officer in the State of Texas for 22 years, and has been with the City of De Leon Police Department since October of 2015.
